Synopsis

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

In the heart of one of the 480 shanty towns that surround the city  carioca, three characters bet on life among the  most deprived populations: Mario, the priest, Eunice the prostitute, Israel the president of a residents' committee.

Around them, poverty, drug trafficking, police violence but also the vitality of Afro-Brazilian popular culture with its rites, its music, and the carnival which always sets the rhythm and carries them in its wake.

A Fleur de terre, a documentary full of humor, of devastating density which, through the portrait of three colorful characters, makes us discover the twists and turns of these favelas, a mirror of Brazilian society.
