Synopsis

In the small municipal school of a former mining town, students from immigrant backgrounds complete their primary education cycle with Brigitte, a teacher whose caring enthusiasm prepares these schoolchildren to flourish in a changing world. The film follows the educational journey of these grandchildren of minors, predominantly Muslim and most of Turkish origin. While some of their elders choose to withdraw into their identity, this film highlights the way in which children seek to build themselves and give meaning to their lives. It captures their doubts and thoughts during terrorist attacks and in the face of harassment on social networks. An ode to life, narrated by the voices of children, this documentary above all reveals their hopes and their vision of the future. It captures spontaneity, the pleasure of being, the end of a carefree time with its fragilities. The film thus weaves the links between past, present and future and outlines a sense of possible happiness, within school and society.
