ENFANTS SERPENTS

A film by Idriss Gabel & Vanessa Kabwela

COMING SOON...

Chantale and Paulin, brother and sister born of rape, meet and discover each other for the first time in an orphanage in Kivu, far from their native village. Their personal quest drives them to find their mother, hoping to understand the roots of their story and to give meaning to their identity.

Around them, other children in the orphanage share their own journeys, all deeply affected by the war ravaging the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Their stories, marked by loss, exile, or abandonment, paint a portrait of a wounded but resilient youth, striving to rebuild themselves despite the scars of conflict.

In this orphanage, run by Sister Clothilde—a unique and caring figure often absent due to her missions over 150 kilometers away—the children learn to support one another and manage their daily lives on their own. Together, they form a family of the heart, united by solidarity and hope, despite the violence of the past and the uncertainty of the future.
